Xbox One Consoles to Project xCloud and Game Pass

The Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One, as well as its successors, are not going to be a focus for Microsoft company. Instead, the gaming giant is betting big on its subscription service of Xbox Game Pass in addition to its Project xCloud service of streaming. While Microsoft claims that forsaking hardware would allow it to reach an estimated amount two billion gamers, it also appears as a hidden admission that Microsoft does not have what it takes to keep up with Nintendo and Sony. In fact, the boss of Xbox Phil Spencer has gone as far to suggest that the console business has not been as profitable as it would have liked.

That is not where you generate money, Phil Spencer said in a latest interview of gaming consoles. Moreover, Spencer reiterated the organization’s cross-platform plans to bring Project xCloud and Xbox Game Pass to every device.

We want to bring Xbox Game Pass to any device that somebody wants to play on, Spencer said. Not just because it is our business, but because the business model allows for people to consume and find games that they would not have played in any other space.

In addition to this, the gaming giant Microsoft estimates that there are two billion gamers in the globe and many of them live where console gaming is not much feasible.

We know that we are not going to sell two billion consoles to each and every one gamer out there, and there are a lot of markets around the globe where a console is not necessarily part of the life said Kareem Choudhry, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Gaming Cloud in the same interview.
It is quite interesting to see how Microsoft views developing markets, labeling them as unfit for consoles when comes in truth, the own decisions of a company have resulted in failure such as launching the Xbox One late in most of the globe or partnering with Amazon exclusively in markets which continuously reduced its reach. While it has not done too well, Sony on the other hand, has grown steadily from strength to strength by simply making the PS4 gaming console available to as large an audience as possible.

Moreover, there is a question of the feasibility of Project xCloud and Xbox Game Pass for the makers of the respective game themselves. Particularly with big and popular publishers like Ubisoft sounding off on the disadvantages of such services to them.

This is the fact that of course, to say nothing of how such a clever move would impact user access, ownership, and of course trust & reliability of such services, which are yet to be tested across various different multiple devices as Microsoft envisions, making the next generation of gaming a bit curious one to examine for everyone.
